Become a Volunteer

Victim Support depends upon many thousands of people who give up their time to help victims cope with the distress caused by crime. We are always looking for new Volunteers and are welcome from all sections of the community. Full training is given and all out-of-pocket expenses are paid.

Training courses are run over 11 sessions into 5 days or 11 evening sessions.

As a Volunteer you will be trained in:

Listening Skills Court Work
Violence Domestic Abuse
Children and Families Racial Awareness
Police & the Courts Insurance
Compensation Confidentiality

Volunteers are required to attend Support & Supervision sessions and 6 meetings a year.

Volunteers also have the opportunity to undertake advanced courses in the fields above or train in specialist fields:

Rape Sexual Assault
Survivors of Child Abuse Murder Victims
Racial and Hate Crimes Domestic Abuse

Volunteer well being is a Priority as without them we could not help as many people as we do. We organize the workload for them to suit their availability, local area and personal skills learned through training.

There are also opportunities to help in other ways, for example with fundraising and publicity, office administration, or with translation and interpreting.

God gave us 2 Ears and 1 Mouth and if we use them in those proportions we will often be Helping People who are in Need.
